Instructions for Authors

Avicenna Journal of Clinical and Translational Medicine

AJCTM welcomes original and scientifically rigorous contributions to clinical and translational medicine. Authors should review the journal's Aims and Scope, publication policies, and relevant reporting requirements before manuscript submission.

1. Article Categories

Word limits exclude abstracts, references, figure legends and tables. Editorials are normally commissioned. Abstract limits and article-specific requirements are described under Article Types and Templates.

2. Preparing the Manuscript

Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word format. Use clear scientific English, editable tables, high-quality figures, and consecutively numbered references in Vancouver style.

Original research should normally include Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Declarations and References.

Authors should provide a separate title page and an anonymized main manuscript suitable for double-anonymized peer review.

3. Title Page

The title page should contain the full manuscript title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author's email, ORCID identifiers where available, and relevant acknowledgments and declarations.

4. Ethics and Consent

Studies involving human participants or identifiable data must report appropriate ethics approval or justified exemption, and informed consent where applicable.

Animal studies must report appropriate ethical oversight. Consent for publication is required for identifiable clinical information or images where applicable.

5. Clinical Trials and Reporting Standards

Clinical trials must comply with AJCTM's prospective registration requirements. Authors should provide the registry name, registration number and relevant protocol information.

Applicable reporting standards include CONSORT 2025, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE, STARD, ARRIVE and their relevant extensions.

6. Required Declarations

• Data Availability Statement
• Clinical-trial registration, where applicable
• Substantive AI-assisted technology use
• Acknowledgments

7. References, Tables and Figures

References must be numbered in the order of first citation. All references and DOIs should be verified before submission.

Figures and tables should be cited in the main text and provided with informative titles or legends. Permissions are required for third-party material where applicable.

8. Peer Review

Suitable research manuscripts ordinarily undergo double-anonymized external peer review by at least two independent reviewers. Editorial decisions are based on scientific quality, research integrity and relevance.

9. Publication Charges and Waivers

Eligibility for the standard LMIC discount is determined using the World Bank country income classification and the corresponding author's primary institutional affiliation and usual country of professional residence.

Requests for additional full or partial waivers must be submitted by email to editor@ajctm.org before manuscript submission.

APCs are payable only following formal acceptance. Payment does not influence the editorial decision.

10. Submission and Revisions

Authors should submit through the journal's online submission system. Emailing the Editorial Office does not constitute formal manuscript submission.

If revisions are requested, authors should provide the revised manuscript and a point-by-point response to the editorial and reviewer comments.

11. Copyright and Open Access

Authors retain copyright and grant Avicenna Medical Press a non-exclusive licence to publish accepted work. Published articles are distributed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0), subject to identified third-party rights.
