Author Self-Archiving and Repository Policy

Avicenna Journal of Clinical and Translational Medicine

The Avicenna Journal of Clinical and Translational Medicine (AJCTM), published by Avicenna Medical Press (AMP), supports the responsible sharing, dissemination and preservation of scholarly research.

Authors retain copyright and may deposit eligible versions of their scholarly work in institutional, subject-specific and other appropriate repositories without a publisher-imposed embargo.

1. Permitted Manuscript Versions

Manuscript Version Deposit Policy
Preprint Permitted without embargo
Accepted Manuscript Permitted without embargo
Published Version of Record Permitted without embargo

Authors must comply with the applicable rights, ethical obligations and repository requirements for the material deposited.

2. Preprints

Authors may share preprints on recognized preprint servers or appropriate repositories before submitting the manuscript to AJCTM.

Preprint posting is not automatically considered prior journal publication.

Authors must disclose relevant preprints during submission and provide the corresponding preprint DOI or URL where available.

Authors should ensure that publicly posted preprints comply with patient confidentiality, research ethics and applicable intellectual property requirements.

3. Accepted Manuscripts

Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript, representing the version approved after peer review but before final journal typesetting and production.

Following publication, authors should update repository records to identify the final published article and provide a link to the Version of Record.

4. Published Version of Record

Authors may deposit, share and distribute the final published article PDF immediately following publication, without a publisher-imposed embargo.

The deposited version should retain the original bibliographic details, copyright notice, Creative Commons licence information and DOI where available.

5. Permitted Repositories

Authors may deposit their work in:

  • Institutional repositories
  • University digital archives
  • Recognized subject-specific repositories
  • Funder-designated repositories
  • Appropriate preprint servers
  • Personal and institutional academic websites

Deposits must comply with the terms of the relevant repository or platform.

6. Attribution and Linking

Following formal publication, authors should acknowledge AJCTM as the original journal of publication.

Repository records should include the article title, author names, journal title, publication year, and DOI or stable article URL where available.

Published versions must retain the applicable CC BY 4.0 licence notice.

7. Third-Party and Restricted Content

Authors must not deposit material for which they lack the necessary sharing rights.

Third-party images, copyrighted content, identifiable clinical materials and confidential data may be subject to restrictions independent of the article's open-access licence.

Any material excluded from the CC BY 4.0 licence must be handled according to the applicable permissions.

8. Corrections and Retractions

Where an article is corrected or retracted after publication, authors are encouraged to update repository records to link to the appropriate journal notice.

Readers should be directed to the current scholarly record, including relevant corrections or retraction information.

9. Preservation and Discoverability

Self-archiving can improve research accessibility and discoverability, but it does not replace the journal's own digital preservation arrangements.

AJCTM encourages authors to choose repositories that provide stable records, appropriate metadata and persistent identifiers.
